Do you know that about 1 billion birds die in the U.S annually due to window collisions? Glass windows reflect surrounding foliage and the sky, and since birds cannot recognize them, they will collide into the windows and die due to internal injuries. Based on City Bird survey and iNaturalist data, over 200 birds encompassing 36 species have died on UNC campus due to window collisions over the past 3 years. Our club is dedicated to reducing bird collisions on campus to promote bird conservation, among our other conservation efforts aimed at preventing species decline on and around campus. You can check out our efforts below!
